Happy reading!
Whether you’re an amateur photographer or a passionate videographer, capturing the memorable moments of your journey is essential for immortalizing your memories and sharing your experiences with the world. In this article, we’ll guide you through our choices of gear and our personal recommendations for the essential equipment to bring along on a trip!
Photography & Video
The Sony Alpha7III is the camera behind the pictures in our books! After many years with a Nikon D5300, we finally decided to buy a Sony full-frame hybrid. The perfect camera for developing our video practice! This camera meets all our needs: lightness, versatility, tropicalized body, powerful autofocus, etc.
Lenses
Sony ZEISS 55mm F1.8 The ideal lens for portraiture and reportage: a wide opening, a beautiful bokeh.
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 The perfect transtandard for travel, but it’s a shame it doesn’t go down to 24mm. Voted as the best standard zoom lens for hybrid 2018-2019, it has the advantage of being tropicalized.
Tamron 75-180mm F2.8 No more frustration about not being able to photograph the animals or the horseman spotted in the distance on the Kyrgyz plains. Lightweight and tropicalized, this is THE zoom we needed for traveling!
In addition
Filter: the HOYA PRO1 UV for everyday use, to protect the lens from scratches. And for very sunny days and sea outings, the HOYA Pro1D polarizing filter works very well.
Extra battery: the LOOKit pack contains 2 batteries (850mAh) and a handy double charger! Inexpensive.
Tripod: the Ravelli 127cm aluminum tripod is really lightweight, and was my priority when choosing which to buy. It’s ideal for keeping your camera out of the way when traveling.
Memory card: 2 SANDISK SD cards – 128 GO class 10, U3, V30. This SD card is fast and works perfectly with the GX80, especially in 4K video.
Stabilizer: Ronin-S
DJI Ronin S
DJI Ronin S: It’s the essential accessory for making progress in video. Some features, such as Time Lapse in motion, are really interesting!
Drone : DJI Mavic PRO 2
DJI Mavic Pro 2
Compared to the previous version, the new DJI Mavic Pro offers, thanks to its one-inch sensor, a superb image quality!
Aerial photos are for us inseparable from this type of trip in large spaces.
We chose to take it with the combo pack and insurance DJI care to enjoy this little toy!
Combo Package: MAVIC 2 PRO
Micro SD: SANDISK – 128 Go Extreme
Insurance: DJI Care refresh
Stockage & Battery
External SSD
We traveled with an external 1TB SSD hard disk from SanDisk. In the field, this tiny little hard drive is really very useful! It works on a Mac as well as on Windows. Transfer speeds are very high and it is especially very robust. Again, it is extremely tiny. So much that it can be held in the palm of my hand! This is THE all-terrain hard drive of excellence!
External battery 26800
It is a must-have to go on a road trip. We advise you to have one or two! The RAVPower battery can charge up to 3 devices at the same time and has a large capacity! After several tests of external batteries, this one has a very interesting size/capacity ratio! It is also available in USB C.
