Which motorcycle for Oman?

This destination is a real favourite, and travelling by motorcycle through the Omani countryside is a dream come true!

From natural turquoise pools to white sand dunes jutting out into the sea, you won’t be disappointed! Part of the Rub Al Khali desert covers the center of the country, and several mountain ranges, including Jebel Ach-Chams, stretch along the north and southeast coasts.

A few asphalted roads cross the country, linking the major cities (Muscat, Nizwa, Salalah). While some will love riding their motorcycles on asphalt, it’s on the small tracks that criss-cross the country that you’ll find the most beautiful scenery! For access to remote and wild areas, a trail bike fitted with off-road tires with a minimum road/off-road ratio of 50/50 is a must.

Wild camping is permitted throughout the country, so you can enjoy a starry sky free of light pollution. The government has set up drinking water points in many villages.

Beware, of the 38 tracks suggested in this book, some in the desert will be impossible to do by motorcycle unless you are a Paris-Dakar rider and have a motorcycle equipped to ride in the sand!
