If you wish to return earlier, you will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evisa.e-gov.kg\/\" title=\"evisa kyrgyz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apply for an e-visa<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If you have not used up the 30 days<\/strong> when you leave the country (e.g. if you have stayed in Kyrgyzstan for X days, with X&lt;30), you are allowed to re-enter Kyrgyzstan under the visa-free regime for 30-X days. Leaving the country does not suspend the 30-day period allowed from the date of initial entry into Kyrgyzstan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Enter Kyrgyzstan by land with your vehicle<\/h3>\n<p>Along with Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, Kyrgyzstan is a member of the<strong>Eurasian Economic Union<\/strong>. These countries share the <strong>same customs regime<\/strong>, which means you don't need to re-import your car temporarily when crossing the borders between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. Each time you leave the customs union and return, the temporary import must be renewed.<\/p>\n<p>When you enter Kyrgyzstan or another country in the customs union, you are issued a <strong>TIP (temporary import document)<\/strong> for a period of 6 months to 1 year, which means that your vehicle is authorized to remain within the customs union borders for a maximum of 12 months. Please note, however, that your visa may expire earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Iran, India and other Asian countries, <strong>you don't need a Carnet de Passage en Douane (CPD)<\/strong> to enter Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_5 et_pb_row et_block_row preset--module--divi-row--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_7 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_5 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2>The main border crossings Kyrgyzstan<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Last update: June 2026<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_6 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3>Border Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan<\/h3>\n<p>Whether through the Korda\u00ef, Sypatay Batir, Aisha Bibi or Karkyra checkpoints, the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan is open to international travellers and poses no particular difficulties.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Korday<\/h4>\n<p>After being closed for repairs for 2 years, Korday \/ Ak-Zhol is once again the main border crossing between Bishkek and Almaty. If you don't have your own means of transport, there are plenty of buses and cabs available. The border is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and there's an exchange office on both sides, as well as food and drink.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Ak-Tilek<\/h4>\n<p>Closed to travelers since 2022. Limited to the passage of goods trucks.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Sypatay Batir<\/h4>\n<p>Border post between Taraz and Bishkek. It is possible to exchange money and eat at the border.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Aisha Bibi<\/h4>\n<p>Border post between Taraz and Talas. It is possible to exchange money and eat at the border.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Karkyra<\/h4>\n<p>Newly asphalted road. Open all year round. Please note that there is little public transport available for travellers without a vehicle.  <\/p>\n<h3>Border Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan<\/h3>\n<p>There are two border crossings between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan that are open to international travelers: Izboskan and Dostyk. Please note that drones are strictly forbidden in Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Izboskan<\/h4>\n<p>Open to foreigners, BUT only to pedestrians and cyclists, not to cars and motorcycles! Shared cabs operate on both sides of the border.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Dostyk<\/h4>\n<p>Quick and easy border crossing. It lies on the main road between Osh and Andijon.<\/p>\n<h3>Border Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan<\/h3>\n<p>Due to a border dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, all borders between the two countries remained closed for over three years. <strong>Since July 8, 2025<\/strong>, an agreement on border demarcation has been reached between the two countries, and<strong> the borders have officially reopened<\/strong>. All border crossings other than the 3 mentioned below are closed to foreign visitors.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Kyzyl-Art<\/h4>\n<p>You can cross this border crossing provided you have :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a VISA or simply an up-to-date passport if you are VISA-exempt<\/li>\n<li>a <a href=\"https:\/\/ountravela.com\/en\/gbao-permit-tajikistan\/\" title=\"gbao\">GBAO permit<\/a> if you are travelling in the direction KG --&gt; TJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beware, the track to cross the border is in very poor condition (4x4 obligatory). You won't find any exchange offices, ATMs, insurance or cabs. You don't need a <a href=\"https:\/\/ountravela.com\/en\/kyrgyzstan-border-permit\/\">border permit<\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/ountravela.com\/en\/kyzyl-art-border-crossing-permission-kyrgyzstan-tajikistan\/\">special authorization.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Kulundu<\/h4>\n<p>Open since July 2025. Please note that there is another border crossing 12km further west, which is strictly forbidden to foreigners.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Isfara<\/h4>\n<p>Open since July 2025.<\/p>\n<h3>Border Kyrgyzstan China<\/h3>\n<p>There are two crossing points between Kyrgyzstan and China: Irkeshtam and Torugart. Before attempting to cross the high-altitude borders between Kyrgyzstan and China, it's important to <strong>check weather conditions and make sure there are no public holidays<\/strong> on either side of the border. The borders are <strong>often closed in winter due to heavy snowfalls<\/strong>. This region has limited resources in terms of fuel, food and spare parts.<\/p>\n<h4>\u27a1\ufe0f Irkeshtam<\/h4>\n<p>The busiest and easiest border crossing.
