Road conditions at Kyrgyzstan<\/h3>\n
Home to the Celestial Mountains<\/a>, Kyrgyzstan is 90% mountainous<\/strong>. Only the roads linking the main towns (Karakol, Kochkor, Naryn, Osh, etc.) are paved.<\/strong> Off the main roads, you’ll be riding on mountain tracks, which can quickly deteriorate in bad weather. Our 4-wheel drive and high<\/strong> ground clearance will enable you to travel in complete safety and to negotiate technical passages without difficulty: mud, fresh or melted snow, small streams or torrents, steep ascents or descents, sand, etc. Usually, these difficult sections are very short, but during heavy rains or following a landslide, they can stretch for kilometers.<\/p>\n

Rules of conduct Kyrgyzstan<\/h3>\n
It is important to be attentive and to respect speed limits<\/strong>. Road conditions vary greatly<\/strong> from one region to another. There are more and more speed cameras<\/strong>, and local driving habits are not exemplary<\/strong>! Be careful, too, as you’ll often come across stray animals on the side of<\/strong> the road (horses, cows, pigs, etc.). The traffic police are quite corrupt, so beware of crooked officers who will want to ticket you for the slightest misdemeanor. There is zero tolerance for drinking and driving<\/strong>. So be careful with your consumption.<\/p>\n
Rental car insurance<\/h3>\n
Since 2018, it has been compulsory to insure your car in Kyrgyzstan<\/strong>, but the majority of Kyrgyz don’t have insurance and settle out of court in the event of an accident. Rental vehicles are normally all insured, but be sure to check<\/strong> the rental company’s insurance conditions. The insurance must cover part of the damage to the rental vehicle in the event of an incident. It must also cover your civil liability, i.e. the damage you may cause to others in the event of an accident. In the event of an accident, and depending on the extent of the damage, you can call in the police to report the accident. Always budget for repairs <\/strong>, as a simple puncture can happen very quickly!<\/p>\n

Is an international driving license compulsory?<\/h3>\n
